FCTCF Scholarship Funding

Sharff and Kinnan Educator Scholarships

January 23, 2023

From Cradle to College Foundation is happy to announce its partnership with Take Stock in Children of Manatee County to award college scholarships to deserving students. The need for college financial assistance continues to grow in Manatee County, it is so important that we support our high school students in their pursuit of higher education, especially in a field that is in constant need of staffing.  Funding provided by the Foundation will allow four students to attend college to become educators, a field that was very important to the honorees of these scholarships.  Both Paul Sharff and Harry Kinnan understood how higher education can shape the future of our youth. Their efforts truly made a difference for Manatee County’s children, and we are proud to honor their legacy by supporting students.

The total of $20,000 will fund three Paul Sharff Memorial Scholarships for early educators (0-5 years) and one Harry Kinnan Memorial Scholarship for a K-12 educator.

From Cradle to College Foundation wishes to thank all the generous donors who made these memorial scholarships possible, it is truly well-deserved by these two men who are missed by so many.  We will be forever grateful for their contribution to our community.

First Responder Scholarships

From Cradle to College Foundation has partnered with the MTC Foundation for the administration and distribution of First Responder Scholarship Funds raised at the Leadership Prayer Breakfast in October 2021.  A check in the amount of $30,000 was presented to the MTC Foundation in May 2022 to support students seeking a first responder career.

The Directors of the Law, Public Safety, and Security programs met with the FCTCF Board and MTC Foundation Board members to update the group on programs and scholarships in November 2022.  Mr. Herb Moller, a major donor to the Scholarship Fund, was also present.

Our sincere thanks go out to Mr. Moller and all of those who donated for this meaningful purpose.

There are currently scholarship funds available for individuals interested in pursuing a Law Enforcement. EMT, or Firefighter career through Manatee Technical College.  To be considered, a counselor or financial advisor should reach out to MTCF  on behalf of the student to notify them of the need and request an application for the student.

Awarded funds may be used for specific program-related purposes, such as tuition, books, uniforms, and other expenses for MTC First Responder programs.
